The purchase of a house in Toronto was the catalyst that motivated me to establish SurelockHomes. It all started when I was buying a property in 2005. The agent, upon arriving at the house, went directly to a lockbox hanging on the door knob, entered a code and presto we were in the property. It was easy as that.

I returned to New Zealand in 2009 and right away noticed not only were our own real estate agents not using lockboxes but they were a foreign concept to builders, renovators, property managers and last but not least the holiday home rental market.

My first shipment came from a real estate agent in Chicago but today SurelockHomes’ locks and lockboxes are sourced from around the world and come in a variety of sizes and models that fit the vast majority of keys and locations.

If you need a spare key for any reason then you need a lockbox. Just ask Dame Susan Devoy who came home and found a burglar in her house because he found the supposedly “hidden” key. Or, the lady in Rotorua who got
stuck in her cat door because she locked herself out. At home, at work or at play lockboxes provide a safe secure place where you can leave a key for either yourself or someone else.
